Photography- It is the process of making pictures by means of capturing light on a light sensitive medium, such as sensor or film. Light patterns emitted from objects are recorded onto a storage chip through time exposure. It is the process done through chemical, mechanical, or digital devices known as CAMERAS. The word comes from the Greek words phos “light”, and graphis “stylus”, “paintbrush” or graphe, together meaning “drawing with light” or “representation by means of lines” or “drawing.” Traditionally the product of photography has been called a photograph. The term photo is an abbreviation; many people also call them pictures. In digital photography, the term image has begun to replace photograph. Modern photography can be traced to the 1820s. The first permanent photograph was an image produced in 1826 by the French inventor Nicephore Niepce. The picture took eight hours to expose, so he went trying to find out a new process. Together with Louis Daguerre, they experimented with silver compounds based on a Johann Heinrich Schultz discovery in 1724 that a silver and chalk mixture darkens when exposed to light.

When Niepce died in 1833 Daguerre continued the work, eventually culminating with the development of the Daguerreotype in 1839. In 1832, Hercules Florence had already created a very similar process naming it Photographie, and William Fox Talbot had earlier discovered another means to fix a silver process image, but had kept it secret. After reading about Daguerre’s invention, Talbot refined his process so that it would be fast to take pictures of people. Talbot invented the CALOTYPE by the year 1840, which creates negative images. In 1884, George Eastman refined Talbot’s process, printing on a film instead of photographic plates, which is the basic technology used by chemical film cameras today. Color Photography was invented by the year 1880s. Initial experiments in color could not fix the photograph and prevent the color from fading. The first permanent color photo was taken in 1861 by the physicist James Clerk Maxwell. In the year 1915, early color photograph taken by Produkin Gorskii. One of the early methods of taking color photos was to use three cameras. Each camera has a color filter in front of the lens, it provides the photographer with the three basic channels required to recreate a color image in a darkroom or processing plant. Another Russian photographer Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin Gorskii developed a new technique, with three color plates taken in quick succession.
